Horrible tragedy, without a doubt. Couple of thoughts:* The police chief, when asked if he suspected the hand of islamic terrorists behind the incidents, promptly mentioned that Islam and Terrorism
don't go together, and that the terrorists out there who claim Islam as their religeon are not really muslims... and that he is treating this case with an open mind, purely as an act of terrorism,
and that is about it. Very mature response under the circumstances.* It is amazing how efficiently the city managed to evacuate hundreds of thousands of underground passengers without causing much
panic and avoiding stampedes.* I noticed the people on the street (behind the CNN chick), at around 4pm London time, walking around, talking on their phones, mostly all smiles and seeming delighted
to have made it through the day alive. Very calm reaction, considering what had transpired just a few hours earlier.* If the perps could successfully set off 6 bombs, they could have just as easily
set off 60. Methinks more damage was possible (a la 9/11) but was not done for whatever reasons, one of them being just a mild warning (by 9/11 standards) to the English to get out of Afghanistan
and Iraq or else...* Oil prices fell, US Treasury Bond prices rose, G8 summit will probably drop discussions on Poverty in Africe and Global Warming and instead would focus primarily on the global
War on Terror, and most importantly, Euro and Pound drops encouraged the Dollar to rise....hmm, I wonder which country stood to gain considerably from the incident. My thoughts and prayers are with
all those who have been affected.
